Prof. Dr. Guler Aras

Prof. Dr. Güler Aras is an internationally recognised scholar and thought leader in finance, corporate governance, and sustainability, with a particular emphasis on integrated reporting and sustainable value creation. She is Professor of Finance and Accounting at Yıldız Technical University (YTU), where she has held senior leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Dean of the Graduate School. She was also a Visiting Professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

A pioneering voice in governance and sustainability, Professor Aras is the Founding Director of the YTU Center for Finance, Governance and Sustainability (CFGS) and the Founding Chair of the Integrated Reporting Association Turkey (ERTA). Through these roles, she has led influential national and international initiatives that advance transparency, accountability, and integrated thinking. She is a member of the Integrated Reporting and Connectivity Council (IRCC), contributing to the evolution of global reporting frameworks under the IFRS Foundation.

Professor Aras has an extensive body of work, including numerous international books and a large number of peer-reviewed articles and conference papers. She is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Capital Market Studies and an editor of Routledge’s Finance, Governance and Sustainability Book Series.

In addition to her academic contributions, she actively engages with policy and practice through advisory roles and board memberships, contributing to the advancement of sustainable finance and corporate governance at both national and international levels. A newspaper columnist and advocate for next-generation leadership, and she is recognized among Turkey’s most inspirational women.
