Singapore: The Bangchak Corporation, Thailand\u2019s leading energy company, has won Asia’s Sustainability Report of the Year award at the just concluded 2017 Asia Integrated Reporting Awards (AIRA). The company also won Asia\u2019s Best Stakeholder Reporting and Asia\u2019s Best Community Reporting awards, and was declared a joint-winner in Asia\u2019s Best Materiality Reporting category.<\/p>\n

China Resources Power, an energy conglomerate in Mainland China and Hong Kong, emerged as the second biggest winner as it cornered three awards including Asia\u2019s Most Transparent Report, Asia\u2019s Best Environmental Reporting (joint winner), and Asia\u2019s Best Sustainability Report – Standalone (Highly Commended).<\/p>\n

Top winners at the 2017 AIRA included India\u2019s Tata Steel (Asia\u2019s Best Integrated Report), Vietnam\u2019s Baoviet (Asia\u2019s Best Sustainability Report \u2013 Standalone), Olam International (Asia\u2019s Best Sustainability Report within Annual Report), and Taiwan\u2019s Hair O\u2019Right (Asia\u2019s Best Sustainability Report \u2013 SME). Thailand\u2019s Charoen Pokphand Group and Hong Kong\u2019s Kerry Properties shared Asia\u2019s Best First Time Sustainability Report as joint winners. Taiwan\u2019s Sinyi Realty scored adouble by grabbing Asia\u2019s Best Online Sustainability Report, and Asia\u2019s Best Workplace Reporting awards.<\/p>\n

Winners of the 2017 Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards were announced and honoured in an exclusive awards ceremony-cum-gala-dinner event in Singapore on 6 February 2018.The event, hosted by the British High Commissioner in Singapore H.E. Mr Scott Wightman at the picturesque Eden Hall, was attended by senior business leaders and dignitaries from non-profit organisations, embassies, trade associations, advocacy organisations and academia.<\/p>\n

The winners received a specially designed plaque framed with recycled wood. The winner of the top honours, Asia\u2019s Sustainability Report of the Year, won an exclusive golden plaque. All finalists received a merit certificate printed on certified paper sourced from sustainable forests. Also, the winners and the finalists will be eligible to use the exclusive Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards logo as a mark of excellence in sustainability reporting.<\/p>\n

AIRA, a non-profit initiative, is organised by Singapore-based sustainability advisory firm CSRWorks International to recognise excellence in reporting.<\/p>\n

Following a global trend, several stock exchanges in the region now require listed companies to produce an annual sustainability report, mainly to meet investors\u2019 demand for non-financial disclosure. AIRA winners are setting a new benchmark in sustainability reporting excellence which in turn will inspire more companies to raise the bar.<\/p>\n
